Weightless AI collects nothing. The extension has no server, no account, no analytics, no tracker. No data is sent to laurentvoyage.com or to any third party other than Google, with whom you deal directly using your own API key.

This document sets out exactly what stays on your device, what goes to Google, and when.

01 What stays on your device

This data is held in Chrome local storage (chrome.storage.local) and never leaves your machine, unless you enable the Drive sync described in section 03.

Your Gemini API key: in clear text, as in any browser extension. Encrypted storage does not exist in this context.
Your conversations: the last 40 messages, across at most five tabs.
Your settings: model, language, temperature, font size, accent colour, theme, system prompt, favourite prompts.
Today's token counter, reset every night.
The window position and size.

The Clear local button in the settings permanently deletes the conversations. Uninstalling the extension removes everything else.

02 What goes to Google

Any AI processing means a request to the Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com), with your key. The following is sent:

Your questions and the context of earlier exchanges in the conversation.
The content of pages you ask to summarise, via the /page command or the Summarise button.
Selected text when you use the context menu.
Attached files: images and PDFs, up to 10 MB.
Today's date and your system prompt, if you have set one.

⚠️ Worth keeping in mind. Summarising a page sends its content to Google. Avoid it on a mailbox, a banking area, a medical record or a confidential work document. The site name is shown on the button precisely so that you always know which page would be sent.

Built-in Google Search

When web grounding is on — the Google Search setting, enabled by default — Gemini may run searches to support its answer. The corresponding queries appear beneath each answer, along with the sources cited. This setting can be turned off in the settings.

Use by Google

On the free tier of the Gemini API, Google states that requests and responses may be used to improve its products, including training its models. Projects with billing enabled fall under different terms. See the Gemini API terms and Google's privacy policy.

03 Google Drive sync

Optional, and off until you click the cloud icon and grant access. It saves your conversations and settings so you can find them on your other devices.

Scope of access: the only scope requested is drive.appdata. It grants access to a private folder reserved for the extension, invisible in your Drive and inaccessible to other applications. Weightless AI can neither read nor modify your other Drive files.

The Clear Drive button in the settings permanently deletes this file. You can also revoke access from the third-party apps of your Google account.

04 Permissions and reasons

activeTab	Read the page you ask to summarise, at the moment you ask.
scripting	Inject the extraction script into that page, once. No permanent script is present on the sites you visit.
contextMenus	Offer the analysis actions when you right-click a selection.
notifications	Signal that an answer is ready when the window is minimised. Off by default.
system.display	Reopen the window at a position visible on the screens actually connected.
Access to googleapis.com	Reach the Gemini API and the Drive API. Nothing else is reachable.

Optional permission

Access to web pages (https://*/*) is declared optional: it is not granted at install time and the extension works without it. Chrome will ask for it if you click Summarise the active page, so that summarising still works after you change address in the same tab. You may refuse it, or remove it later from chrome://extensions.

Weightless AI installs no permanent script on the pages you visit. The reading script is injected only when you explicitly ask for a summary, and is removed immediately afterwards.

05 Gemini Nano

If your device supports Chrome's local model, it appears in the model list. Exchanges then take place entirely on your machine: no network request, no API key, nothing sent to Google.

06 What we do not do

No analytics, no tracker, no cookie.
No server of ours; the extension sends us nothing.
No resale, no data sharing.
No advertising.
No account to create.

07 Your rights and remedies

Since the data stays on your device or in your own Drive, you keep full control of it: the Clear local and Clear Drive buttons in the settings delete everything, immediately and with no deferred confirmation.

For data processed by Google, contact Google: we have no access to it.
